For Sale:
A vintage Crown Ducal fine china salad plate, made by A.G. Richardson and Co., Ltd., of Tunstall and Cobridge, England in their Gainsborough shape. Dimensions: 8 1/2” (side), 3/4” (depth), 11.6 oz. (weight).
An attractive piece with a cream-colored high-relief floral base and a multicolored floral decoration. The transfer was hand decorated with additional color highlights.
Please Note:
various floral transfers were applied to the Gainsborough shape. If you’re adding to a matched set, check that the floral design matches.
Identifying Marks:
“Crown Ducal”, “Gainsborough”, “England” (standard mark: 3 lines under crown), “RdNo749657”, “78(?)”(handwritten in red).
Condition:
Used – light normal wear, significant crazing front and back, and two very small dark spots on the front.

“Crazing” is a pattern of fine cracks that commonly develops in the glazing of ceramic items with age and thermal stress.
